RE-ECONOMY: CREATING A NEW PLASTICS ECONOMY
The theme of the SEC Conference Day 2018 was “RE-economy: Creating A New Plastics Economy”. The conference, organised in collaboration with our strategic partner Deloitte & Touche Enterprise Risk Services Pte Ltd, was designed to raise awareness of responsible green consumerism, with an added focus on reducing plastic waste. Key highlights included a keynote address and panel discussions on the consumer and producer’s role in reducing plastic use, drawing insights from a recent SEC study on consumer plastic use and plastic resource ecosystem.

SINGAPORE’S PLASTIC CONSUMPTION
The population of Singapore uses a minimum of 1.76 billion plastic items each year, according to our recent plastic study announced in July 2018. PET Bottles, Plastic Bags and Polypropylene Plastics were found to be the three largest contributors to this figure.
