Volunteer Voices
Being an Earth Helper might sound like a lot of work, but on the contrary, it’s the small actions that we do that makes a big difference. I have made many friends throughout the years with other fellow Earth Helpers from all walks of life. Join us in our never ending journey of learning, sharing, helping and saving the environment! – Adrian Ho, 27 (Customer Relations Officer) |

I am a certified litter enforcement volunteer for the National Environment Agency (NEA) through nomination by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC). I take pride in protecting our nature and the environment. The effects of climate changes and concerns of greenhouse emissions are all triggered by human activities. It is imperative that we tackle the issue through the root of the case to tweak the mind-sets of the people. I believe the SEC and NEA are on the right track and I am thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the community. – Gopala Krishnan, 44 (Regional Sales and Marketing Manager) |

My mentor introduced me to the Earth Helper Programme in 2013. I was delighted to learn about the activities that are in place to promote a green conscious Singapore. The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) provides an avenue for me to encourage others to join in and together, play our part to advocate green living and reduce the impact of climate change. We hear “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” all the time but a simple rule of thumb I live by is “Consider Before Consuming”. – Liaw Lay Kian, 52 (Enrolled Nurse) |

Every thought is a seed, regardless of how small it may seem. I urge all of us to put aside our selfishness and shyness and take the first step to protecting the environment. Whether it is today or tomorrow, it is always better late than never. – Low Kok Peng, 57 (Facility Manager) |

The Earth Helper Programme offers great diversity in environmental initiatives and has strong connections with many other organisations in the environment field. I am thankful for the exposure given by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) and I particularly enjoy being a facilitator for the ABC Waters Learning Trails at the Lorong Halus Wetland. I would like to join the green home audits this year too. I strongly encourage YOU to come on board. Sustainability starts with each individual! – Nhan Quang, 28 (Internal Auditor) |
