The theme of the SEC Conference Day 2018 was \u201cRE-economy: Creating A New Plastics Economy<\/strong>\u201d. The conference, organised in collaboration with our strategic partner Deloitte & Touche Enterprise Risk Services Pte Ltd, was designed to raise awareness of responsible green consumerism, with an added focus on reducing plastic waste. Key highlights included a keynote address and panel discussions on the consumer and producer\u2019s role in reducing plastic use, drawing insights from a recent SEC study on consumer plastic use and plastic resource ecosystem.<\/p>\n

SINGAPORE’S PLASTIC CONSUMPTION<\/h2>\n

The population of Singapore uses a minimum of 1.76 billion plastic items each year, according to our recent plastic study announced in July 2018.<\/strong>\u00a0PET Bottles, Plastic Bags and Polypropylene Plastics were found to be the three largest contributors to this figure.<\/p>\n
